Synchron has appointed Synchron adviser Matthew Wallis as its new NSW State Manager. Mr Wallis will succeed Paul Del Grande who has resigned in order to focus on his financial advice practice, InSync Financial Services.

Based in Sydney, Mr Wallis has been a Synchron financial adviser for the past five years and will be selling his practice, Straightforward Financial Planning, to take on the State Manager role full-time.

Announcing the appointment of Mr Wallis at the Synchron Professional Development Day in Sydney this week, Synchron Director Don Trapnell said, “Matthew joined Synchron in 2013 and is a graduate of five Synchron NextGen conferences. He has spent his working life in financial services and has an intimate understanding of advice businesses and the issues facing advisers today, having built his own practice from scratch. We believe he has the energy and commitment to build on Paul’s considerable achievements and drive future growth for Synchron in NSW.”

Mr Wallis started his career with AON and spent eight years as a business development manager with AIG, AIA and Asteron.

Mr Trapnell thanked Mr Del Grande for almost 12 years as NSW State Manager, and 15 years as a Synchron Adviser. “When Paul took on the part-time role in July 2006, Synchron had 14 authorised representatives in NSW and $2 million in turnover. While also working in his own advice business, as at February 2018, Paul had grown adviser numbers in NSW to 85 and turnover to $11 million. That’s a success by any measure.”

Mr Wallis said, “Taking on the role is an awesome challenge. As the state with the largest population of advisers, there is lots of opportunity for NSW to grow. I have big shoes to fill and can’t wait to get my teeth into it.”

He will be working with Mr Del Grande until the end of March 2018, officially commencing duties as NSW State Manager from 1 April 2018.
