Happy New Year and welcome back to those of you who already have your feet under the desk! This year looks like being off to a flying start with a healthy financial services events calendar up and running from the earliest days of February. Here’s a taste of what’s on offer.
8 February – Professional Planner, in association with the Financial Planning Association, will host the Advice Practitioner Summit (the Summit) at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. Designed for financial advisers, the Summit will feature some of the industry’s thought leaders and aims to deliver, ‘leading-edge thinking on financial planning best practice.’ Attendees can earn CPD hours. This year’s event will also include the relaunch of the Stella Network, an initiative to support women in financial planning.
14 & 16 February – The Four Seasons Hotel Sydney has also been selected for Financial Standard’s annual Chief Economists Forum on Valentine’s Day. The event, which targets financial advice, superannuation, and investment management professionals, will feature five of Australia’s chief economists and strategists, who will provide their economic insights into expectations for 2023. The Chief Economists Forum will also be held at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne on 16 February. Attendees can earn CPD hours.
21-23 February – Conference season kicks off with the ASFA Conference (the Conference) at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 21-23 February. Billed as ‘one of the largest pensions events in the world and the only major event of its kind in Australia that brings all sectors of the superannuation industry together under one roof’, the Conference will begin with pre-Conference Masterclasses on 21 February. Delegates can receive up to 22 CPD points based on their session attendance, including sessions watched on demand after the Conference.
22-24 February – The Self Managed Super Fund Association (the SMSF Association) will host its annual SMSF Association Conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), and virtually, from 22 February. The conference, which is designed for association members, and non-members with an interest in the self-managed superannuation space, coincides with the SMSF Association’s twentieth anniversary. The event encourages a ‘hivemind approach to collective knowledge sharing’, and delegates can earn up to 44 CPD hours.
22 February – Portfolio Construction Forum (the Forum) will host Markets Summit 2023 from its Live Studio at University of New South Wales campus (Sydney) on 22 February. Aimed at institutional and wholesale portfolio construction practitioners, and dubbed Every VUCA Cloud has a Silver Lining, delegates can attend Markets Summit in person, as part of a group at an off-site live venue organised by a Forum Faculty Partner, or digitally via live stream. Markets Summit attracts 7 CE hours which can be used to help meet the CE/CPD requirements of 20 governing bodies (regulators, associations, and institutes), including, but not limited to, ASIC, APRA, Legislated, FMA, AFA, FPA and CIMA®.
